Terms & conditions

These terms explain eligibility, how free play and optional paid entry work, how prizes are determined, and the rules that apply when you use World Cup Predictor League.

Eligibility

World Cup Predictor League is operated from the United Kingdom by Stuart Paterson. To enter the paid prize fund, you must be at least 18 years old, ordinarily resident in the UK unless we clearly state otherwise for a particular tournament, legally able to enter this kind of skill-based competition in your jurisdiction, and provide accurate information when you register and pay.

At the payment step you will be asked to self-declare that you are aged 18 or over. We may refuse, suspend, or cancel prize-fund participation if we reasonably believe these requirements are not met.

Free play rights

Free play is always available on the platform. You can create an account, submit predictions before the lock deadline, view results, and join the normal gameplay experience without paying an entry fee.

Free play does not create cash-prize eligibility and is not removed if you decide not to pay. Paid entry is optional and only changes whether you can receive prize-fund payouts for that tournament.

Paid entry terms

Prize-fund participation is optional. If you choose to enter, you pay a one-off entry fee of £10 for that tournament.

  • The fee grants prize eligibility only for that tournament.
  • It does not buy extra predictions, bonus points, or a better rank.
  • Paid entrants and free users predict the same matches under the same rules.
  • The current entry-fee split and live amounts are shown on the Prize Fund page before payment.

Prize determination

Prizes are awarded based on skill using cumulative tournament prediction accuracy. The scoring system is fixed as follows:

  • 3 points for an exact correct score
  • 2 points for the correct result and correct goal difference
  • 1 point for the correct result only
  • 0 points for an incorrect prediction

Paid entrants are ranked by total points. If players finish level on points, the tie-break rules are applied in this order: most exact scores, then most correct results, then earliest paid entry timestamp. These rules determine payout ranking without any chance-based draw.

Prize fund breakdown

Entry fees are divided between the prize pool, platform hosting and operating costs, and the named cause contribution. Unless otherwise shown on the Prize Fund page for the tournament, the default split is:

  • 70% prize pool
  • 15% platform hosting and operating costs
  • 15% cause contribution

The default prize places are 40% / 25% / 15% / 12% / 8% of the prize pool for first through fifth place.

Cause disclosure

We currently intend to allocate up to 15% of the relevant entry fees to Kim Oakhill's Fight for Life at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kim-oakhill-fight-for-life. This is a personal crowdfunding campaign, not a registered charity.

We facilitate the contribution described on the platform, but we are not the fundraiser, not JustGiving, and we do not claim that payments made to us are charitable donations. You should not assume any tax relief, Gift Aid, or charity-law status applies.

Refund policy

You may cancel your paid prize-fund entry and receive a full refund up to and including the tournament start date. Once the tournament has started, no refund is available except where we are required to provide one by law.

The tournament start information shown by us for that competition controls the refund deadline.

Data protection summary

We process account, prediction, and payment-related data so we can operate the platform, administer prize entry, prevent fraud, and meet legal and accounting requirements.

Payments are handled through Stripe. We do not store full card details on our own systems. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute relating to these terms or the platform will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer law in your place of residence gives you additional rights.
